What happened during the Gallipoli Campaign
During the Gallipoli Campaign, the battle were short and the attempt failed with heavy losses on both sides. New Zealand and Australian troops had landed in the wrong area they ground on a small bay called Anazc Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula. They were supposed to land at Cape Helles with the British and French, which were several miles to the southwest. In the early days of the campaign, the allies tried to break through the Turkish lines and the Turks tried to drive the allied troops off the peninsula .The troops had to fight their way up through steep, high and cliffs in order to establish. The Australians and New Zealanders started making these bombs and throwing them up the cliff which killed several Turkish but many Allies were still unable to get up the cliff and were killed or wounded as they came ashore because there was no place to cover at the time and the Turkish machine gun fire. Throughout the time the Turks knew there was an attack coming therefore they had moved troops into the area and built defences to contain the attack. Many believe that the plan for the Allies was too determined, poorly planned and uncoordinated with the lack of shells and poor equipment, damned the Allies to seek a conclusion in the battle.
